Rajini's words...A Sweet Surprise !! :)

 http://realmofimagination.blogspot.com/2011/04/my-roommate.html
I dnt knw how many times I hav read it till now...not sure wats the main reason why I liked it beyond words....
Is it coz it put into words how close rajini is to me
or is it coz it was a complete surprise
or is it coz I felt really elated when I read how nice she felt about me :D
or is it coz it is sooo sweet of her to write about me
or is it coz I am proud that she started blogging with this very article
or is it coz it reminds me of those initial days in california
or is it coz it makes all those funn moments with my roomies come live in front of my eyes
or is it coz its tough to believe how close I became with my roomies in sucha short span to time
or is it coz it brought back so many memories from the beginning of my love story
or is it coz the letter praised me soo much :P
or is it coz it reminds me of how we moved from being mere roomies to very close friends...
whatever the main reason is, I loved it to the core and am not tired of reading it many many times.....seriously every word I read, brought back many moments in calif which I cherished soo much....really lucky for having found such awesome roomies.....I still remember how terrified I was when leaving cincinnati after having heard soo many "torture roomies" stories.....but it dint take long to realized how sweeet she is.....I still remember when I told my manager that I am not shifting close to office just coz I have soo sweet roomies :D hehe......I cant thank god enough for having found these 'friends for life' :D....thanks darling for the wonderful article.....love u tonss n tons n tonss ....

A mail drafted on Friendship day

It was friendship day..
As usual I was very excited....I wished I was in college when we used to tie friendship bands and party with this excuse :)
It was 9am already and I was already half disappointed that he dint cal yet to wish me "Happy friendship day"
I was waiting for him to cal n wish first....coz he knew how much importance I give to these lil things.....I had always been waiting for such spl days...
I sneaked into his email account to see if he already checked his mails ( proves if he already got up or not :P)....that is when I found this in his latest drafts

"
As always, you are entitled to your opinion and this does not mean that I am trying to change your way of looking at the world in anyway. Its just that I was there where you are now and I feel I have evolved from that point on in such matters. I merely want to express what I went through before saying those terrible words “Happy Friendship day” today or for that matter “Happy mother’s day” or “Happy father’s day”, which I never did in my life.

Today I received some typical “happy friendship day” messages on facebook, gmail and orkut and all of them are from the same people who are not really my friends by any stretch of imagination. Them saying those words did not brighten my day in anyway the same way my actual friends not saying those words to me today did not lessen their relation with me.

Back in engineering, my group of friends never said those words to each other and if I say that to anybody, without a doubt anyone in my group would burst into immediate laughter. However, there were certain other groups in our college who tied friendship bands on the day, which made them the laughing stock for us. So, are they really kids and corny and cheesy in behavior compared to us and are we more evolved than them, is subjected to one’s own opinion. You may not find them cheesy and corny but what is not subjected to opinion and is a fact is that if at all there comes a dire need where you need to help your friend who is in your dire need, they would not take one step forward.

For some people, its just being hip and modern. The new generation who were brought up by the world of television and stupid corny romantic movies, easily buys into such things and if you apply your logic, which has been abandoned long ago, you will see where I am coming from. The need to express your feeling of friendship on friendship’s day OR the need to express your love by buying a gift on the Valentine’s day actually displays ones insecurity in the relation more than anything. To me that is disgusting. The funny part about it is most of us don’t even care to know where these dates came from and most likely they were invented by some random jerk in the last 20 or 30 years ago for some stupid reason that we could even care for and the gift card companies and corporates took the advantage and commercialize it in a way that you feel you are not modern until you follow the trend.

To me this not just a hip trend but a dangerous one. Humans have existed for millions of years and we have known records of human relations for at least thousands of years. This trend of celebrating friendship, love, brotherly and sisterly love (oh god save us from this stupidity) probably started in last few decades. So, what about our forefathers who did not know about such days. As the reach of media and corporate businesses has been expanding, the likelihood of this trend becoming a norm in the society is also increasing. In the next few decades, we will have whole generation which will be brought up in this trend. We will then reach a stage where people will actually be offended for not being greeted. Hopefully, I will die before this.

So, when someone tells me “happy friendship day”, I either see his/her insecurity or see the blatant ignorant and innocent consumer culture in him/her. And when I flinch just hearing those words, imagine me saying me those words.

I see this trend more popular in India than else where. Being one of the most dimwitted nations around the world, we blindly follow whatever West feeds us. One glance at youtube proves this. Just type in freindships day in the search box and you will see 9 out 10 videos being from our great nation."

I sat silent for a loong time after reading it....every word of it was true....I never really thought soo much about it anyday....all I wanted was an excuse for celebration.....I felt soo foolish after reading it.....it wasnt some discovery I dint know of, but somehow it shook me a bit......I felt soo bad that he had been thinking soo much that he even started to write abt it......but somehow I liked his way of thinking and made me happier to know this aspect of him.....i never knew that he was doing all such stuff only to make me happy all the while....felt really bad and guilty.....i was somehow moved a lot by reading it
My phone started ringing....It was him.....I picked up..
He greeted..." Happy friendship day ra bangaram"

PS: He never mentioned about the draft till date.

Oh Ya! My Thesis Acknowledgment :) :P

PS:  This post was drafted in Nov 2010 but publishing it now. That explains how busy (lazy :P) i had been :).

Abstract of Acknowledgment :P

"I am thankful to all my cincinnati friends for making my stay at UC a cherishable one. Spl thanks to Aparna, Bharat, Deepika, Himaja, Raja and Sudhir for being a home away from home. Also spl thanks to Ravan for bearing with me and my silly doubts and helping me in getting going. I would like to thank my parents, my brother yashu, my bf kishan , for their support, encouragement and unwavering love are undeniably the bedrock upon which my life has been built. To these 4 ppl, I dedicate my thesis !!! "

Acknowledgment:

Today Nov 24th 2010 I am on the verge of completing my masters degree. This is the day, I feel a sense of achievement. This is the day I had been waiting all my life. This is the day, I wish I was with my parents to see the spark ( and/or tears) of pride in their eyes.

Landed in US in Aug 2007.....Past 3 yrs in United States has flown real fast....but it has taught me several things which I never hoped to ever learn in life.....comon I am not talking abt cooking and cleaning kinda stuff :P....serious ga cheptunte enti abba meeru :P...

I really cant forget the pangs of homesickness I felt for the first few months.....but by virtue of suppa7 gang, found a home away from home....found a family away from family....
The days at Cincinnati were super fun...the people amazing....i have learnt many things from each one of them.....n most importantly, as a group, we just rocked!....be it countless nightouts, potlucks, outings, trips, group assignments or just plain timepassing, everything was awesome.....without these guyz, things wouldnt have been the same....like it is said, life @ US is mainly defined by the roommates, I really feel that the reason for my enjoyable stay at UC is coz of my friends aka roomies Aparna, Bharat, Deepika, Himaja, Jayasree, Kalpana, Raja and Sudhir. (Sudhir dont feel bad, names are listed in alphabetical order :P hehe) . Time pass, watching movies, playing games (esp Klueless), chitchatting, or playing counterstrike :P, everything was just fun. As I type the words scioto/morgan and lookout apts, streams of memoies flood down my mind :((....How much I wish I could relive those moments with all of these guyz...my previous attempt to capture all the memories @ cincy is available here [1] ( Thesis writing effect :P)

My sincere thanks to all of you guyz for your support and love for the past years. Raja needs spl mention for really supporting me and also helping me out in many challenges in life and also in career. Really his guidance and friendship made a whole lot of difference to my life. Also I should be very thankful to Ravan for responding and reaching out a helping hand every single time I asked him dumb questions in Java :). Without his support my thesis would never have been finished. By support I mean both technical and moral :). Also I am extremely grateful to my roomies Rajini, Preethi, Harika and Anita for constanly scolding me to concentrate on thesis :P hehe. It really did help guyz ;). This acknowledgement would be incomplete without a spl mention of My sister Madhavi and my brother Naveen whose moral support always gives me a boost, My best friend Shravan for supporting me since past 10 years through thick and thin in life.

Most importantly I would like to thank my parents to whom this day would bring a spark of pride in their eyes. They are the reason for which I am here today. My brother Yashwanth who is more than just a brother or a friend or a twinsoul [2], [3]. My fiance Kishan whose moral support helped me focus on my work [4] . I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to these people for without these people I cannot imagine Life .  To these 4 people, I dedicate my thesis. Lastly, I want to thank God for blessing me with everything I have asked for.
